Geometries containing reiterations of self similar shapes in the micro and macro scales are considered fractal.   The concept is easily understood through visual means, and is usually understood exclusively  as such.  However,  modern research suggests fractals exhibit a great model for the universe itself, as it expresses its fractal essence in many patterns throughout nature.

Refraktal is a reiteration of such nature in music...
